What to Expect your First Chiropractic Visit

Welcome to Bellies, Babies and Beyond Boulder.  For those of you who are new to my practice, I would like to give you a little information of what to expect on your, or your child’s, first chiropractic visit.

Patient History and Symptoms

In preparation for your chiropractic consultation, you will be asked to fill out new patient forms, that provide background information about you or your child’s symptoms and condition.
Dr. Beth will then go over your history form and talk with you about your history so she has a full picture of your health, not just your current symptoms.

The Chiropractic Exam

Dr. Beth will then complete a thorough chiropractic exam.  This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Range of Motion of the lumbar and cervical spine
  • Muscle tone
  • Muscle strength
  • Neurological integrity
  • Orthopedic tests of the affected area
  • Neurological tests of the upper and lower limbs

Further chiropractic tests may be necessary to assess the affected area, such as having the patient move in a specific manner and posture analysis.

The Adjustment: Adult

Dr. Beth will also be adjusting you or your child on the first visit.  She uses very specific but gentle techniques to address the subluxations in your spine and correct them.

The Adjustment: Kids

When working with infants and older children Dr. Beth integrates Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) into their adjustment as well.  If you would like to receive CST as an adult, please let Dr. Beth know.  Cranial Sacral Therapy has many benefits for people of every age.
